Phone Cases

I was sitting watching YouTube and noticed that my phone case was getting a bit ragged. So while I was finishing the video I opened up my web browser on my computer and did a quick search. When you go to sites like makerworld.com, printables.com, or crealitycloud.com you can find many files to print and many of them are inexpensive or my favorite price point free.

While I was searching on printables I found a phone case for my phone designed by gleonard3. (Pixel 8 pro). This was a simple yet good design so I downloaded it.

While sitting at the computer preparing to print the case, I noticed that it had a really nice flat surface on the back. I imported the logo of my church and incorporated that logo onto the back of the case.

I printed this on my Creality CR10-SE printer. This particular printer does not have the ability to automatically change filaments, but with a few tweaks in the slicer program, or if you edit the gcode, you can add pauses to the print to allow for changing filaments. Most of the newer slicing programs have this automatically in the slicer, I use Creality Print V6.3.0.3420 since that is the newest available Creality slicer for Linux. If you use Windows there is a newer slicer, but I am not a fan of the current Windows operating system so I have switched to a Linux Operating system because otherwise I would have had to purchase a new computer to upgrade Windows.

I also have a couple Creality Hi printers, one of them has the CFS system which allows for the automatic switching of filaments, making it easy to do multicolor prints like this.

The design recommendations from gleonard3 suggested using a 19% honeycomb infill. He also recommended turning off the top and bottom layers, which would leave the honeycomb pattern instead of the solid face. I kept the solid face to allow for my logo. With these settings, I used approximately 2.73 grams of white ender series pla filament, and 37.95 grams of inland pla basics black filament. The print time was around an hour and a half with a couple of pauses for filament changes. (I only had 2 layers of the white so there were not many changes).

This makes this personalized phone case cost approximately $7.17 not too bad.

Thanks gleonard3 for the design, and as always if any of you would like something printed just contact me.
